OBITUARY William Gibson:
William Gibson died at his home at Waterford Monday afternoon, April 26, after an illness of several weeks. The funeral services were held last week Thursday from the home, Rev. E.B. Dean and Rev. W.H. Southerland of Medford officiating. Mr. Gibson was born in Spencerville, Ontario, Canada, July 28, 1839. He was the fourth of a family of eight children. In 1864 he left Canada and settled on a farm near Medford, this state, where he lived until 1898. In 1898 he moved to Waterford township and continued his farming interests until his removal to Waterford village in 1913.He was married in March 1870, to Miss Mary Hunter. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on the ninth of March. Seven children were born to them, three boys and four girls. The boys are, W.W., George M., and J. Murray, all of Waterford; and the girls are Jennie E. Pike, Minneapolis; Mary Carpenter and Margaret Frame who live near Waterford, Barbara Sperry, the other daughter died seven years ago. Besides his wife and children he is survived by twenty-one grandchildren; a brother, James Gibson of Salem, Oregon; and a sister, Mrs. Marion McDonald of Owatonna. The large number of his friends and relatives who attended his funeral shows the respect and esteem in which he was held in the community. Those from away attending the funeral were Mrs. G.M. Flinn, Mrs. R. Staple, and Mr. and Mrs. Davis of Medford; Arthur and Roy Wilson of Merton; Mrs. P.R. Pike, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Will McDonald and Mrs. Ed Nailer of Owatonna; Ed Gates of St. Paul and Fred Hunter of Minneapolis. [2]
